Spooner!

set design, propping, art direction

2025

toronto

After the successes of their previous campaigns, Gay Lea hired us to work on their 2026 campaign for Nordica that was set to be airing during the Winter Olympics. They knew from the beginning that they would be featuring a Canadian female hockey player from the PWHL, which helped form the basis of our creative.

Once again, I was tasked with working with our production house to put together a kitchen set for the commercial campaign. When Natalie Spooner was selected to be the face of the spot, we began working within the parameters of creating a space that looked as though it could feasibly be her own kitchen while also feeling brand relevant and eye-catching. Inspired by her social media, we were able to include subtle nods to her personal life, like representing the busy schedule of a full-time professional hockey player and a dedicated mom and even including pictures of her and her family.

With Nordica’s strong brand presence, it was important that we made the set feel Nordica proud. As such, we landed on using a very distinctive blue for the cabinets to help amplify the blues of the Nordica brand. We chose to keep most other items pared back by using lighter blues, natural tones, and creamy whites, which allowed for Natalie and her smoothie to really shine within the overall set.

my name is holly and i am an overachiever with a love of great design and fantastic ideas.
