Gay Lea Foods commissioned our team to help support in the creation of an experimental DTC cheese & charcuterie delivery service. This included strategy, branding, brand creation, asset and print production, and communications production.
My direction on this project was to create a sophisticated but contemporary brand identity that would allow the product to stand out to the consumer. After some iteration, we landed on the final logo—a sans serif font with custom rounded notches and extended limbs to create a unique wordmark. The addition of the golden star and off-kilter lowercase e were intended to add a sense of levity to really help engage with a diverse audience.
Overall, we decided to have a nearly all-black package for its elegant and sleek qualities. The starkness of the black package served to create contrast with the bright and appetizing products on the inside, which were meant to be the main feature of the box. Meanwhile the gold woodgrain was added in as a nod to the woodgrain of a charcuterie platter to keep the package relevant to the final intention of the product.
